Marlin turns up the heat on another busy summer

Phew. What a summer! It has been one of the busiest yet for the team at Marlin Marquees. Just when we thought 2014 flew by, this summer has already been and gone. Fast forward a few months and thoughts now turn, dare we say it, to the Christmas party season, frosty mornings and chilly nights.

What did you do this summer? It’s a frequently asked question as winter approaches and the six week school holidays become a distant memory. At Marlin Marquees HQ we have been asking ourselves-what didn’t we do this summer?!

From delivering luxury loos to the Sunseeker Poole open weekend in March to the start of the wedding marquee hire season, from our newly acquired umbrella bars taking pride of place at Ascot to erecting 10 marquees in one busy wedding weekend in June, it’s been another rewarding year.

Marlin party

As well as wedding marquee hire we have had the pleasure in supplying
marquees for several parties and in particular a rather ‘groovy’ Austin Powers themed party which was rather fun! We used colour overlays to create the strip in the roof of the marquee and our client had colour panel stickers put on the bar sides to personalise this and ‘funk it up! It was a good example of how our umbrella bars can be used to good effect inside as well as out. A clear end was used on the marquee as to give beautiful views over the client’s lake. Two Pagoda marquees were used for the entrance area and had peaks on the main marquee giving the whole external overview a rather ‘groovy’ appearance! Whatever you are trying to create for that truly memorable day, our team is proud to offer our wealth of experience and knowledge to help you deliver that.

From small marquee hire to larger events we have certainly seen a bit of everything this summer. We helped the RNLI celebrate its 50th Anniversary in Lymington for 400 guests. For this project we used all Clearspan Marquees with a 15m x 30m marquee for dining and dancing and a 6m x 21m attached for a casual reception area. An additional 3m x 9m marquee was used for the bar area and a 9m x 9m marquee for catering.
Some of our events over our busy summer have also included:

  • Courtyard Opera week at the Oriental Club, London
  • Private party at Beaulieu River
  • Weddings at St Giles House, Wimborne and the Walled Garden, Somerley
  • Green Party conference, Bournemouth 2015

Our new style, mobile umbrella bars arrived all the way from Austria in May. They have been very popular throughout the summer. But it is important to remember they can be used indoors as well as out, where they make an attractive centrepiece within a marquee for your party, wedding or event. We have been using umbrella bars for ten years but we are very excited that we have now acquired them as to become part of the Marlin family. From garden parties to corporate event hire and wedding hire to festivals, the umbrella bars can be so versatile.
Keep an eye out for our new umbrella bar website which will be up and running soon…and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and twitter. Remember, a marquee isn’t just for the summer months!
